Uncovering vision problems with Smart Technology

 

State-of the-art application

Heterophoria is not easily discernible due to the compensatory action of ocular muscles in the process called binocular fusion.

We aim to develop a state-of the-art application for latent strabismus screening, complete with binocular vision assessment, leveraging cutting-edge technology. A suitable device records video of the patient’s eyes during the automated tests and employs machine learning algorithms to identify latent and manifest strabismus.

This tool will empower healthcare professionals lacking specialized expertise (i.e optometrists, nurses), to address latent strabismus, alleviating its associated health challenges and costs.

Using new knowledge from our R&D project will lead to the development of an AI-supported tool and process for latent strabismus screening.
